The Kids Design Award is always one of the highlights of Kind + Jugend - © Koelnmesse
This year too, the Kids Design Award of Kind + Jugend offers design students and young designers the opportunity to present their pioneering ideas to a trade public, to attract attention to themselves and establish valuable contacts. You can find all important information on this year's edition in our blog.
A swivel chair with a miniature playground, therapeutic dolls for children suffering with emotional problems or an educational building toys made of wood that helps children learn to read, write and count – the range of baby and children's products that have been honoured with the Kids Design Award in recent years is extensive. The competition for young, creative designers is now going into the next round. Outstanding concepts and designs for the children's room of tomorrow are once again being sought.
For the seventh time already, Kind + Jugend, together with the Association of German Industrial Designers (VDID) , is inviting students and young designers from around the world to submit their product concepts. The ten most convincing ideas will be nominated for the award and presented at Kind + Jugend from 17 to 20 September 2020 in its own special event. A high quality expert jury from the design, industry and education sectors will select the winner of the Kids Design Award 2020 from the group of nominees. In addition to winning the award, there is also the opportunity to acquire product sponsorship in the context of a sponsorship award. This means that an experienced manufacturer professionally accompanies the further development of the design to market maturity.
A win-win situation for both sides
However, it is not only the chance to win the Kids Design Award that makes the competition so attractive for young designers. All participants benefit from the huge amount of attention their ideas attract: thanks to the presentation in the special event, all ten nominees have the chance to realise and market their idea together with a manufacturer. The submissions of the competition participants that are not nominated will also be presented to potential product sponsors after the trade fair, namely in the exclusive Matchmaking365 Community for exhibitors, trade visitors and interested parties.
This all shows that one profits from even participating in the Kids Design Award. This is because every idea is given the chance to connect with interested parties from the industry and every young designer can establish contacts that are important for his or her future. Conversely, the manufacturers and distributors also profit from this situation, because they can't find as many brilliant, promising ideas for children and baby products anywhere else.
The submission deadline for participation in this year's Kids Design Award is 31 May 2020. We are looking forward to receiving many great designs!
