In the background, a child with blond hair tied in a small ponytail is visible out of focus. The child is wearing light blue or gray-blue striped clothing. Trends in the toy sector

Just like our little ones, toys are also constantly evolving. The two most important toy trends at Kind + Jugend are sustainability and digitalisation – and each has several advantages.

Toys for more sustainability

Parents and teachers alike place great value on natural materials and craftsmanship. Toys made from certified European wood stand for short transport routes, sustainable forestry and absence of harmful substances. Other materials, such as fermented corn used as a plastic alternative, are also popular because they are free of plasticisers and other chemicals.

Eco toys, which can be fully recycled at the end of their life cycle or are made from recycled materials, benefit the environment and child.

Smart toys take over the market

Smart technology and robotics have ushered in a whole new world of play and learning – one that is more interactive than ever before. One example of this are smart teddy bears that respond to voice commands and can interact with the environment and child.

Sensory toys, on the other hand, encourage children to be more mindful both with themselves and others by stimulating their senses.

A large, cute plush doll designed as a fantasy character with a big, round green head, large white and black eyes, and a small, friendly smile. On its head are small, brown, plush “horns” or “fringes.” The surroundings appear pleasant and inviting, likely at an event or in a pop-up store.
